RBN has identified the following communities as areas that individuals returning back to local communities have to conduct their lives in and through in order to maintain balance.

Barriers to Successful Reentry

  • Concern that community services are not felon-friendly or culturally competent to meet their needs
  • Inaccessibility to services

1 in 31 US adults are in the penal system. 1 in 25 adults in Ohio are in the penal system (PEW). 1/2 of 51,000 Ohio prisoners are serving time for nonviolent crimes. 11,524 Stark County adults are currently in the penal system: prison, jail, parole, probation. 1,500+ per year are returning from prison to Stark County ~~whether we are ready or not.
